The Stratton Story
Lux Radio Theater

True life story about Chicago White Sox pitcher Monty Stratton (Jimmy Stewart), who in the 1930s, compiled a 37-19 won-loss record in three seasons. He became the winningest right-hander in the American League. In 1938 his major league career ended prematurely when he was seriously injured in a hunting accident. What happens next, is the REAL story. Yes, Stratton's struggle and eventual victory is inspiring, but his wife, played by June Allison, exemplifies commitment "in good times and in bad" as she sticks with him through his depression and rejection of life to help him rebuild his self esteem. It's as much about the real meaning of love as it is about personal victory.

This one is for the whole family. First broadcast on February 13th, 1950.
