The Fugitive
Screen Director's Playhouse

A nameless priest (Henry Fonda) is a fugitive in a un-named Latin American country where religion is outlawed. Another fugitive, a murderous bandit dubbed "El Gringo", comes to town. He and a beautiful Indian woman conspire to help the priest escape. The movie was directed by John Ford. Interestingly enough, one source quotes Ford as saying this was his favorite film.

A serious and dramatic story, this one is perhaps too strong for the younger children. Absorbing and thought provoking for older children and adults. First broadcast on July 12th, 1951.
